Will the Real Shea Butter please stand up!!

Many people visit Afri-Ware just to pick up the shea butter.  Over the we have gotten many testimonials and information about it and wanted to share with you:

• Shea butter can be white, beige, or yellow.  The white one has been processed by a mechanical means to purify and package it.  This variety can also be scented to make it more appealing to the customer.  
• The beige one and yellow one differ in that one is processed in the traditional fashion in Africa from a seed that has been aged longer;  the yellow one is older than the beige.  These two are the best known for their healing/moisturizing qualities.
• Many have testified that they buy the shea butter strictly for arthritis and to relieve pain deep in the joints.  It must be applied daily twice a day.
• Most testimonials are regarding its powerful moisturizing effects in that it gets reid of ashiness and dry skin.
• Look for varieties that are 100% shea butter - no added frangrances/chemicals/words that can not be pronounced
• Unless you are able to get the large chunks direct from Africa, some manufacturers package it by:  melting by bringing to a boil, whipping (Root to Life) or steaming (Afri-Ware brand coming soon).
• Has been known to heal stretch marks quickly.
• When heated, some use/mix shea butter as a base for hair.  The oil is thick so some may need to use less than others.  
• Many immediately notice the wonders of shea butter just by applying to dry hands because it penetrates quickly and deelply.
• Soothes mild cases of eczema.

Black Soap Info

Black Soap is one of our best selling products because it is free of chemicals and dyes, and, does not clog the pores like other soaps that leave a sticky residue.  It comes as a bar (most popular) or in a jar.  The bar comes as:  DuDu Osun (made in Nigeria and has aloe vera, grapefruit seed extract and other natural ingredients), or Songhai Black soap (made in Africa with Palm flowers and other natural ingredients).  Both bars will require a special soap dish that drains to keep it from dissolving quickly and temporarily staining the sink. The Songhai Black soap in a jar is more versatile because it is a paste and allows you to dissolve a pinchful in your hand with water (at least 4 times as much water to dissolve) and put directly on acne or wear overnight as a mask.  Note:  it is important to dissolve with water as it is extremely powerful.  For general use, the paste can be applied direclty to a wash cloth and worked up into a nice lather, or, stretched by diluting with water in a separate container for easier application for some.  Because of the unfamiliarity with either process, many customers prefer to just use the bar.  Black soap can be drying since it cleans deep.  To remedy this, we recommend smoothing on some shea butter as needed for moisturizer.  Many customers after a few weeks testify to its clearing up many tough acne problems.
